Best Professions for Making Gold in World of Warcraft

wowsecond336-2gifOne of the major ways you will make money in WoW is using your professions.

Everyone gets to pick 2 specialized professions on top of Cooking and First Aid

Obviously First aid isn’t really a way to make money, however if you have read The Ultimate Guide To WoW you would know there’s many items in the game that you can buy from vendors and resell them on the AH for 2-10x the amount, one example is the expert first aid book.

In order to get First aid past 150 you need to get the book from the vendor in Dustwallow (horde) from the vendor at Brackenwall village for 1g.

As alliance you need to go to Arathi Highlands and get it from the vendor in Stromgarde keep (enter then go right, then he’s right past the bridge).

I’ve been selling this book with many others on the AH for 3g or more and I sell a few every single day. It’s just easier for people to grab it off the AH instead of going to these other locations since a lot of people have higher level players they just send their lower toon money and save them some time.

Ok, back to Professions.

There’s 2 types of professions crafting and gathering.

Personally, I prefer gathering skills over crafting. Gathering, like mining, skinning, herbalism. While you’re questing you’ll come across the resources and you take them, much easier to level than crafting.

Now crafting on the other hand which would include Enchanting, Jewel Crafting, Tailoring, Inscriptions and Blacksmithing require you to get materials (aka mats) to level. You may spend hundreds even thousands of gold leveling say enchanting from 1-450.

Now, to craft items you will need materials from people who have the gathering skills (except enchanting in a way because enchanting allows you to “disenchant”green quality items or better which turn
into dusts and such which are used to then “enchant” items (armor, weapons).

Crafting items becomes profitable at higher levels, however they really don’t do much good at lower levels (except enchanting because you can disenchant things, however at a point you will need to spend money to make things because you don’t have the mats and it’s expensive, but you have to level it up or you won’t be
able to disenchant items at higher levels).

So, for newer players who are not very familiar with professions, I recommend you take a gathering profession, and gather as much as possible while you quest, you will thank yourself.

Also, if you’re an Ultimate World Of Warcraft Guide member you might be remembering when Dave was saying before the release of WOLTK on the forum to buy up the herbs onthe AH and take up herbalism ASAP because when WOLTK is released you’ll make 10x the money from those items.

Why? Because in WOLTK the new Inscription profession was included, Inscriptions use Herbs to increase the power of spells and abilities. To level it you need a LOT of herbs. Daves one master WoW player lol
:-)

If you haven’t go checkout the Ultimate World Of Warcraft Guide, if you’ve never tried the in-game leveling addon, I highly recommend you check it out, it will at LEAST double your leveling speed.

Check it out at: Ultimate World of Warcraft Guide

I recommend all the guides, but you can check out each individual one on the above link, and watch the videos for each, he’s got a limited time bundle deal, if you get all the guides at once you’ll save some cash.
