Best Gold Making Professions in WoTLK Patch 3.0.8
Making Gold in World of Warcraft has always been one of the most prized talents in the game. Every day, players spend countless hours thinking of new ways to grind out gold, to get the gold they need in their accounts to buy the things they need for raiding, building up their profiles, to create new characters, and capping out their professions. Using professions has always been the best way to make gold in World of Warcraft, and that hasn’t changed even in Wrath of the Lich King. However, it is good to know which professions are best when it comes to making gold.
The Gathering Professions.
Gathering professions have always been a favorite among gold accumulators. Of the gathering professions, all three will do well when it comes to making gold rather quickly. Of these, skinning is probably the least valuable, due to the fact that there is a lower demand for leather goods in the game. Mining is always very lucrative, as an hour of mining can get you usually between 150-250 in gold. Herbalism is another powerful way to make gold in the game, as there are usually a few more herbalism nodes in any given game zone, considering your competition in minimal. Also to note is that almost all herbs from the Northrend will sell for a decent amount, due to the Inscription and the Azure pigment standardizing their values across the board.
The Crafting Professions
The crafting professions are going to vary in terms of return from profession to profession depending on what your goals are. For the purposes of making gold, however, there are certainly a few that stand out amongst the rest as a sure-fire way to boost the gold making process. Blacksmithing has recently been great for this purpose, now that crafted rares and epics are extremely popular these days. However, this trend will not last long, as players will often replace their blacksmithed goods with those found from raids and from instances throughout the content.
Alchemy can be a lucrative profession, although not as much so now, due to new potion and elixir restrictions that have been put in place for battles.
Engineering has never been that great when it comes to making gold, with the exception of a few items, such as from selling Army Knives, Choppers, or using extractors on Eternal Essences. Inscription, Jewel crafting, and Enchanting are all good professions, as they can make a valuable buffing product to every player in the game (all of whom need multiples of these). Likewise, tailoring and Leather working are both good professions, but will be limited due to the demand of your customers.
All in all, the gold making options for your primary professions comes from what you use items for, whether you save your gold or spend it, and whether you are satisfied with the results of achieving a level 80. Gold can be made really from anything you choose, but only if you choose to work at it hard, and are ready to do the work.
