When in the world of the new expansion for World of Warcraft launched in November 2008, all were very excited by the new Death Knight character, the first new class to be added to the game since it was first published in 2004.

Three months later, many continue to use their Death Knights, but there have been many changes to the class that have caused many to change their perceptions about the character. A few of the significant changes were:

Class Balancing of the Death Knight

The first thing most players noticed when they started playing the Death Knight was how over powered it was. By destroying five, six or seven enemies at once, having a gargoyle and ghoul at his side, the possibilities of self-healing, and all the strong armor, it was easy to play in solo mode. Northrend is a bit harder, but not by much with the class, and when the season 5 started, it was clear that the Death Knight would remain superior in many ways.

Thus, the balance of power was an important issue for Blizzard and a goal of many of the recent corrections. The game is based on new changes in the and as a result, the class have lost a lot of their talents, while others have gotten restructured and buffed to compensate for the nerfs. However, PvP balance is still on the Death Knight and it is expected that the class in PVE not happen likely in the near future.

The  Number of Death Knights

Since the caps have been lifted on the death knights on many servers, many have began to show up in the game. However, the actual number of Death Knights has leveled off a bit, because many players are back on their main or alt characters as the new content has dwindled off. This will continue as players begin to realize how difficult is is to effectively play with the Death Knight Class.

However, the death knight is still an attractive character for many players and will keep their dominant position on many servers for weeks and months, atleast until the new hero class is released.
