Class Balancing and the present PvP Season in World of Warcraft

When a new season starts in PvP, there’s quite a few questions about the balance of the character classes in the arena and whether Blizzard wishes to go in and nerf / buff half a dozen different specs. This is even more exaggerated when you get into the present PvP Season where 30 different character talent trees have just hit Level eighty and are attempting to balance out against one another ( with Blizzard’s help naturally ).

The Power Classes

When you get a bunch of new personality skills at a higher level cap, the balance will be shifted in favor of some and against others. Ironically, players who are overpowered are sometimes more anxious because they know they are going to be nerfed and it can regularly lead to suffering in PvE content as in the case of Shamans and Paladins during the past seasons.

This time, Retribution Paladins are sitting on top of the rankings together with Unholy Death Knights. Both specs are amazingly strong against just about anyone out there and became entirely too tough typically.

Mages are also becoming rather overpowering in several cases but as is sometimes the case they’re not getting the notice that overpowered melee classes do because they will be able to be beaten more readily due to their lower HP counts.

The Weak Classes

On the flip side there are some classes that are suffering this time because of new specs, poor redesigns and an absence of overall balance.

On top of this list is the Warlock who used to be a power house in the Arenas and is now suffering seriously because of lack of internal balance and cohesion with new Demonology respeccing. Shadow Priests are also suffering a bit thanks to a shortage of buffs to balance them out with other DPS casters though Disc Priests are still well represented in the arena.

Often, the balance issues will always exist, but after a major growth, you may expect that they are going to grow and start to outweigh the content a little more than common thanks to the incapability of Blizzard to effectively know and test classes and specs on live servers before launch. It’s sure to occur and will likely continue to settle down for months to come as Season six starts to approach. As with the TBC adjustments that happened between the start of Season one and the end of Season two, expect a slew of new changes in the patches to come.

If you would like to have the ideal character prepared for PvP, you had better know what new changes are on the way to that class. Warcraft Formua has more info on the continued patching and rebalancing of your fave class.
